Scroll bar is unavailable when passing cursor over the mailboxes as was in prior versions. Now the only way to get the scroll bar is to highlight the first or last message and use the arrow key (up or down) past the first or last message to make the scroll bar visible while at the same time using the mouse cursor to get to the scroll bar before it disappears again.
Also some (not all) messages have no scroll bar and the only way to see the message in it's entirety is to click in the message body and use the arrow or page up/down keys. I am using Thunderbird SuperNova (115.2.2) on a Mac OS 13.5.2

You mean the scroll bar on the far right of the message list?
What touch pad method specifically would do that? I'm not aware that anything has changed. Nor for that matter than selecting a message makes a scroll bar visible.

I'm not sure which scroll-bar we're discussing. I use a trackpad on MacOS, and I use two-finger drag to move things up and down, which also makes the scrollbar appear.
I'm sorry, I should have added that I'm using a Mac, Ventura OS with a trackball. And, so there's less confusion:
In the previous version of Thunderbird (pre SuperNova), when I selected a mail box a scroll bar in the mailbox area would appear and I could click and hold on it with the mouse and scroll up and down the mailbox area. That is no longer the case. In order to get to the scroll bar, in the mail box area, I now have to click on the last mailbox, press on the down arrow, the scroll bar then appears and I can click and hold the scroll bar with my mouse and scroll up and down the mailbox area using the scroll bar with my mouse. Is that a better explanation?

Hi, thank you for reporting on this! I can't reproduce this on 115.4, beta (120.0b3) or daily (121.0a1) on MacOS 14.
I'm following these steps:
- Start at my account central
- Click on my inbox
- I automatically see the scroll bar for the message list.
- I am able to click the scroll bar and move it with the mouse without using the scroll wheel. I am also able to use the scroll wheel while the pointer is on top of the message list without needing to select any message in order to scroll.
Are you able to still reproduce this on MacOS?
