1856021 - VoiceOver hangs after changing selection from a pop up menu on a doorhanger

STR:

1. Enable VoiceOver
2. Navigate to and open the Bookmarks panel via the URL bar
3. Navigate VO focus to Location and press VO+Space to open the pop up menu
4. Activate any menu item by pressing VO+Space (as prompted by VO)
5. Observe the VO focus position and its announcement
6. Try to navigate to any other control within the Bookmarks dialog using VO commands
7. Try to navigate to any other control within the Bookmarks dialog using Tab key

Expected:

1. The change is selected menu item from the pop up is announced, the pop up menu is closed, while the VO focus is returned to the pop up button
2. Further navigation is not restricted with either VO commands or logical keyboard navigation

Actual:

1. After the new checked menu item's announcement is made, the pop up closes and visually the pop up button is focused with the keyboard, but the VO focus position does not change.
2. Using VO navigation commands only the selected menu item is being announced for any VO+arrow key press.
3. Using Tab keypress the focus is moved within the doorhanger but VO does not announce anything
4. If you close the doorhanger you may be able to get the VO cursor to work again.

This behavior was observed consistently on different doorhangers that have pop up buttons in Fx chrome UI, but other browsers (i.e. Safari > Bookmarks pop up) behave with VO as expected.

Is this at all similar to bug 1835364 in terms of how VO behaves? I wonder whether these two are related.

I also found bug 1686932 which might be related.

Do you observe any weirdness with similar controls in Firefox Settings; e.g. the Default Font selector?

Yes, the behavior observed is similar to bug 1686932 and Default Font selector popups. But not bug 1835364 (which includes going deeper in the tree while the current bug is affecting the default behavior of popups)

Marking this bug as S3 and P3 to align with the similar bug 1686932 - we may need to close this one as a duplicate, if we feel that the issue with the content pages and doorhangers could be resolved together.
