Steps to reproduce:

enabling: "Place replies in the folder of the message being replied to"

This feature works seamless in Windows Mail app and Gmail but found it a little challenging here. Hopefully I checked correctly to not include listed issues.

Actual results:

  1. suggestion:
Should be enabled by default as per Microsoft and Google.
I think users should be warned with big-red-letters when trying to disable this.

  2. missing feature:
After you enable this option, it won't work retrospectively in past emails sent via Thunderbird

  3. bug:
-Occurs with Gmail / Google Workspace account and "Starred" folder.
-"Starred" emails exist both in "Inbox" and "Starred" folder.
-When replying via Thunderbird from "Starred" folder a copy won't be placed in inbox as well.
-Strictly reading the description might seem sane however the expected result is not the intended.
-Furthermore when you "de-Starred" and "re-Starred" the received email (which you might normally do when you reply) then Sent email won't appear either in "Inbox" or "Starred" folder.

Expected results:

  1. ...
  2. feature request
  3. to display sent email within "Inbox" instead (Windows mail)
(or if makes better sense to both "Inbox" and "Starred" folders)

Thank you for your time reading this.
Note: "Thunderbird Conversations" extension is not relevant to any above.
