1857219 - Message selection in message list not remembered when switching folders

Steps to reproduce:

I have today upgraded to Thunderbird 115.3.1 (64-bit) on Windows 10

Previously when I clicked between Thunderbird folders I would see the last opened message, or the position I had previously been viewing.
Now, when I switch between folders, the viewing position appears to jump randomly - leading to a lot of scrolling to get to the most recent messages.

e.g.
Step 1: Viewed 'Inbox'
Step 2: Scroll down Message List pane to view most recent message (dated October 2023)
Step 3: Clicked on folder 'Archives' (or can be another folder)
Step 4: Clicked on folder 'Inbox'
Step 5: Message list is now displaying messages from a different month

Actual results:

Message List pane now incorrectly displays messages from May 2023 (NOT October 2023 which it was viewing before) - have to scroll down again to reach recent messages.

Expected results:

Previously when I clicked between Thunderbird folders I would see the last opened message - or it would remember the position I had previously been viewing.

Same issue with all builds 115.x . 64bit.

My profile is old, updated from "old" thunderbird. And with the traditional thunderbird, I do not had the issue.
I am using maildir, with messages stored in folders ( like work, forum reply, etc...) .
I am using local folders.

This should also be addressed in Bug 1827042.
