Using today's Commercial build for M12 on Linux i.e.,

ftp://sweetlou/products/client/seamonkey/unix/linux/2.2/x86/1999-11-11-08-M12/ne
tscape-i686-pc-linux-gnu.tar.gz

Please try the following:
Make a clean install of the build
Using the ./mozilla -installer command, start the browser from the command
prompt.
Observe that the Profile Manager Window comes up empty (no profile listing, even
if you already have some)
Press EXIT button and restart the browser with the ./mozilla command.
Observe that the Profile Manager window pops up with a profile listing.
Press the Manage Profiles button.
Observe that a blank Profile Manager window opens up.
Press the "New" button and create a new profile
Press the "Finish" button.
notice that no profile shows up in the Profile Manager window.

Comments from gbush -------------------

Using ./mozilla -installer brings up empty profile. I started using ./mozilla
and creating a profile and that did not
show up nor my 4.7 profile for migration. When I used the -installer option, I
tried to create a profile with same name and it did not
allow it so it is being recorded in the registry.....just not displaying.

Seth, has anything been checked in recently that would affect this?
I've checked nothing in.

any similar weirdness reported on
news://news.mozilla.org/netscape.public.mozilla.builds?

I am seeing this on the Mac commercial build for today.
ftp://sweetlou/products/client/seamonkey/macos/8.x/ppc/1999-11-11-08-M12/
netscape5-mac-M12.sea.bin
You can create a profile and launch to use seamonkey but no migration can take
place, nor functional profile manager testing.

Grace,

Did you happen to look into the registry using
http://slip/softupdate/BiggerRegToy.html ?
Can you find entries in over there...?

This looks like a tree widget update problem.
Adding hyatt to the cc list.
I checked the registry on Mac (test certificate on Linux came up too small to
display the grant box) and the 4.7 profiles showed there for migration
This is not happening on Windows -
Using today's latest build, I observe that this problem seems to be fixed. I can
see the listing of profiles and create and rename and delete profiles.
I used today's latest commercial build on Linux located at:
ftp://sweetlou/products/client/seamonkey/unix/linux/2.2/x86/1999-11-12-08-M12/ne
tscape-i686-pc-linux-gnu.tar.gz

But I see another problem that selecting a profile from the list makes a thick
yellow line appear on top of the profile name and makes it unreadable.

I will be opening a new bug for this problem and add the number for that
here....
