This bug has been created as per Wayne suggestion in Bug 1834479 Comment 21... as follow up...

After displaying Unified Folder view, I see no data in Message List when clicking on Unified Inbox, Sent, etc...

See my case in TB 102.15.1 Bug 1686239 Comment 22 (latest stable)

...and other user case in TB 115.0b6 as reported in https://thunderbird.topicbox.com/groups/beta/T14ffc06ff9b828b8-Mecae69e29146add1e499b1b2/v115-beta-4-unified-folders-dont-work-correctly-after-restarting-thunderbird

I am conscious that this bug will not be fixed in 102.x branch it is just to show that what may be happening in 115.x was either back ported in 102.x or may come from an older patch...

Yes I know I am yet to upgrade to 115.x :-)

Fyi, as per attached, using a different TB user profile, the same issue occurs in TB 119.0b4 (64-bit) after enabling Unified Folder view, when clicking on the Unified Inbox the Message List remain empty.

Also noticed that each mailbox Inbox are no longer appearing a sub-folders of the Unified Inbox as reported by other users here https://thunderbird.topicbox.com/groups/beta/T14ffc06ff9b828b8-M850c198ef2d123aa4fc4fe13/v115-beta-4-unified-folders-dont-work-correctly-after-restarting-thunderbird and reported in Bug 1834479 which was supposedly fixed since TB 115.0b5

Fyi, Error Console output from TB119.0b4 attached.
By a first look of it, issue could be linked to Global Indexing issue but I am no expert!
Calendar parsing error can be ignored already reported in Bug 1776462 a year ago.

Fyi, running mozregression (period 2022-10-13 > 202-10-13) was unconclusive:
All bad either message list empty or partial data as described in https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1686239#c1

The reason that there seems to be no sub-folder in Unified View Inbox, is that when you go to Unified Folders > Inbox > Properties > Choose, none of the account mailboxes or sub-folders are selected, and therefore included in the Unified view. Selection an account does not automatically select any of the sub-folder of the account in that UI. If you select an account Inbox, it then appear under the Unified View Inbox but still nothing no msg appear in the Unified View Inbox. Remain fully empty/blank. Noted as well, the Search Online option is also disabled, enabling it manually does not make any difference.
Such issues were already reported three years ago while affecting TB 86.x https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1686239#c7

Noted as well, the Search Online option is also disabled, enabling it manually does not make any difference.

Also just realised that in Unified Folders > Inbox > Properties the Match all the following (with no rule defined) radio box option was ticked instead of the Match all messages.

So the manual workaround to fix (after selecting mailbox and folder in Choose button and enabling Search Online option, was to tick the "Match all messages" option instead and pressing Update button allow messages to appear in the Unified Inbox > Message List.

So the bottom issue may not be linked to a bug but to Unified Folder view default settings in TB related.
Maybe something (re)set them at some point in the wrong way during an upgrade?

When enabling the Unified Folder view, I would expect TB to set all those options properly, with proper default settings.

Richard, does this still reproduce for you when using a current version?

Richard, does this still reproduce for you when using a current version?

As I changed the option at the time I cannot really reproduce the issue, I think it followed a TB upgrade... but cannot confirm for sure.

See attached what I see when enabling Unified View in TB 123.0b4 (64-bit) on Windows 10.
I see only one Inbox folder from one of my account so not excluded I ticked settings from previous attempt at debuging issue.

Flags: needinfo?(richard.leger)

Leaving this open for another month in case anyone triaging finds something worth pursuing.
