Reproduced on stable (defaulting to Xwayland, forcing as Wayland) as well as edge channel (defaulting to Wayland)

Set keymap to fr

Try to input « é »

  • on stable with wayland and xwayland it works
  • on edge it does not input anything

Try to input « é » with caps lock enabled (should make a cap é)

  • on stable with xwayland it works
  • on stable with wayland it input low version "é"
  • on edge it does not input anything

same goes for e.g., ç etc.

Some of the behavior also reproduced outside of snap (and mozregression starting back early september shows it is not working), so I am suspecting a regression due to Ubuntu 23.10 upgrade
