Related bug: 72361
Suggestion:
In the bookmark-properties we get two extra fields:
Checkbox: "Always open in Tab" on/off
Textfield: "Name of Tab" string
Now if I check the checkbox (and optionally give the tab a name), then whenever
I click that particular bookmark - The tab is either created (first time) or
focus is given to the tab. In both cases the (re)loads the URL of the bookmark.
That way navigation with tabs and the bookmark-tab in the sidebar could become a
real breeze.
Reproducible: Always

This was my original newsposting:
Hi !
I am one of the many great fans of the tabbed browser thing.
When I browse I almost always have several pages going AND I usually have my
sidebar opened on the bookmarks-tab
I often check the same sites several times within a browsing session.
What I do now is probably known to all of you:
If it is the first time I open that particular page - I start by opening a new
empty browser tab, then I click the appropriate bookmark in the sidebar.
Next time I want to see if anything new has happened on the site - I first click
on the relevant tab - then either refresh the page or click my bookmark in the
sidebar.
Now here is my suggestion: Named tabs
In the bookmark-properties we get two extra fields:
Checkbox: "Always open in Tab" on/off
Textfield: "Name of Tab" string
Now if I check the checkbox (and optionally give the tab a name), then whenever
I click that particular bookmark - The tab is either created (first time) or
focus is given to the tab. In both cases the (re)loads the URL of the bookmark.
That way navigation with tabs and the bookmark-tab in the sidebar could become a
real breeze.
Nice idea methinks (<< pads himself on shoulder and goes 'Goood boy!!')

You are filing two different requests - One to have a bookmark open in a
specifically defined way on left-click (regardless of the default link action),
the other to explicitly name tabs. A single bug can't cover both of these.
I would mark this INVALID, except that I just finished dealing with an existing
bug that addresses one of your two concerns (naming tabs from bookmarks) so I'm
going to mark this bug as a dupe of that one.
Feel free to run a Bugzilla query against your remaining point to see if it
already exists and, if not, file a new bug for JUST that action.

Damn :)
Sorry about that. The point of my bug was really to have a bookmark open up only
one tab if so desired by user. So that first click on 'refreshme.org' would open
a tab and subsequent clicks would refresh the tab and give it focus.
Another suggested way of implementing this could simply be a checkbox 'Always
open in same tab' - clearing the matter of the name.
