other sites where video play on firefox LINUX does not work :
arte.tv
france24.com
cnn.com
bbc.com/news
https://www.aljazeera.com/live
youtube when it is a live stream
the degree of the shaking varies. but is veeery noticeable.
strictly speaking: its not shaking. it is going forward 2 steps, going back 1, then jumps ahead again.
it is mostly live streams that have the problem.
cnn however has it on live and non live streams
it has been like this since at least beginning 2024.
below details in JSON of Al Jazeera's live stream :

this seems to be x-server or x-driver related, in combination with the video hardware :
I did some testing :
bug occurs on :
nvidia hardware (proprietary driver) directly on the desktop of linux,
and also
in a vnc session on top of that linux
does not occur on :
non-nvidia hardware ( amd, intel video hardware )
both on OS and on vnc in that OS it does not occur.
apparently it is the way the mozilla codec uses the nvidia x-server / libraries.

This bug occurred to me using the open source mesa drivers on a dedicated AMD RX graphics card and both the gnome desktop and Firefox where running in Wayland.
Furthermore the bug seems now fixed and no longer happens for me using Firefox 138 as a Flatpak from flathub.
