User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/119.0.0.0 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce:

Open an e-mail that requires two pages to print.
Right-click on e-mail text to select the print dialog.

Actual results:

If Two-sided printing is automatically enabled, it will print double-sided.
If Off is automatically enabled, and "Flip on long edge" is selected, two single-sided pages are printed.

Expected results:

Double-sided printing should have occurred in both cases. This bug has been verified in Troubleshoot Mode with Add-Ons disabled.

Summary: Double sided printing Ver 115.4.1 → Double sided printing Ver 115.4.1 - If Two-Sided Printing is Off when starting, and "Flip on long edge" is selected, two single-sided pages are printed.

TCW does this reproduce for you?

I have seen the issue with the selection to print in Color or B&W. This may very well be an OS or driver issue. In general, it appears the software attempts to determine which way to print and provides the most probable results. I have found that if the results are incorrect or I choose to change them, I can reliably exit the print dialog and reenter. The selections can then be made.

I hope this hasn't resulted in many sleepless nights. I appreciate all the work and detail that has been put into this project. Thank you all.

This is sounding like printer driver issue to me as well.

Jeff,

  1. What make and model printer is this?
  2. What version of printer driver is it using?

I think I am confused here: Jeff is saying that double-sided printing is set to OFF and he is getting single-side pages (which is correct behavior). Am I not reading the STR right? Double-sided set to OFF will always yield single pages regardless of "flip on long" or "flip on short" in my experience.

I don't have a printer at home that does duplex printing so I'll have to wait until I get back to work on Tuesday to test STR.

I seem to not be able to repro as the STR are not 100% straightforward to me. I am leaning toward this being a print driver config issue.

Jeff,

  • What make and model printer is this?
  • What version of printer driver is it using?
  • If you go to the Manage section of your printer, and then go to the Printer Properties > Advanced tab > Printing Defaults, what is 2-Sided Printing set to?

Printing Defaults is the global and static setting for any action the printer performs in perpetuity regardless of what shows up in the Print dialogue box (unless a user manipulates something in the print dialogue box beforehand).
