The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'WebExtensions::Untriaged' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

I checked https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/youtube-high-definition/ on the latest Beta (120.0b6/20231103091743) on https://www.wikipedia.org/ and on https://twitter.com/?lang=en and clicking the extension button will open the add-on panel without issues. Checked when the button is in the extensions panel and when pinned to the toolbar.

We don't seem to have enough details to make this actionale, would you mind to look for the following additional info and attach them to this bug?
- attach details from about:support
- look in the browser console for errors emitted when triggerting the issue
Is the browser window where the extension button is not working as you expect a private browsing window? if that's the case, is the extension allowed to access private browsing tabs?
As a side note the extension button can still be pinned to the toolbar as described in this support page: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/extensions-button#w_manage-pinned-extensions
