User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.3b) Gecko/20021220 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.3b) Gecko/20021220 Using File->Open File, I select the MS Word (2000) document from the file seclection window. Instead of opening the document in Word, mozilla opens the dialogue to save the just selected document. I just cannot make it open any word document. However, I can open any other document (excel, staroffice, powerpoint, etc) using the same method. Note I tried filenames that had spaces in them and that didn't have spaces in them. No matter what the filename, mozilla just doesn't open the word doc. It used to work properly in Moz 1.2.1 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.File->Open to open a local MS Word file on the local disk 2.Mozilla opens the 'save file as' dialogue window. 3. Actual Results: Mozilla opens the 'save file as' dialogue window asking me to save the selected file. Expected Results: Browser should execute word to open the MS Word file. Pinball Theme but it occurs even with the default classic/modern themes.
Noted that there is a pref in pref.js getting set (something like helper.applications.neverAsk.saveToFile) that includes application/msword. When I manually remove that line, this problem doesn't happen. Don't know how that preference got set.
resolving as worksforme since the problem has been solved. please reopen this bug report if the problem reappears on a new build of Mozilla
