While browsing that news site, scrolling was janky and hanging sporadically, displaying black screen for a while when scrolling far.

The problem is most likely a combination of what the site does and mostly what the served ad did. I attach a profile that has unfortunately not been taken with the "Graphics" preset.

Currently I am not able to reproduce (the served ad is different).

FWIW, I did not see this happening again. It might just have been a very specific ad served by them.
