Steps to reproduce:

I need to open a .eml file that is an attachment of a .eml file (downloaded from a software of my company) and forwarding to a specific email.
I open the first .eml file from my download folder and when i try to double click of .eml file attachment nothing happen.

Actual results:

I open the .eml file and when i try to double click of .eml file attachment nothing happen.

Expected results:

Previous versions when i double click .eml file attachment thunderbird open the .eml file like

Hello,

I have attempted to reproduce this issue on 127.0b3(20240522162538) and 115.11.0(20240513132046) as well as on the affected build from 2023-11-15(20231115105440) using macOS 14, Ubuntu22&24, Fedora Linux 40 and did not succeed.

@m.dottori, if you are still able to reproduce this issue, could you please help us with a regression range?
