Steps to reproduce:

I use USB KVM to switch between machines but this can be reproduced simply pluging out the display hardware.

  1. Play a song on youtube or vimeo etc (multiple platforms tested to see if this is platform specific, it's not)
  2. Plug out the display

Actual results:

Song rewinds and starts from begining. The same also happens again when the display hw is plugged back in

Expected results:

Nothing, playback should continue regardless display being plugged in. Other browsers do not re-engage the playback.

This is probably because the display is a multi-functional device also containing audio reproductive system but I've never used it and the audio device itself is not in use and also is disabled in the OS.

Moving this to Core > Audio/Video:Playback component to allow our engineers to examine it more closely. If this is not the right component, please move it to a more appropriate one. Thanks!

Hmm, is there audio output associated with the display?

No, the relevant device is disabled. I don't know what happens on OS level but I can't see the device in mixer ever when it's disabled, so...

Meaning there is an audio device as a part of the display, however no output should be recognized, as the audio device is disabled permanently.
