This rather useful list of release dates from the newsgroup should be on our website or in our docs: 1998-09-19 2.0 1999-02-10 2.2 1999-04-30 2.4 1999-08-30 2.6 1999-11-19 2.8 2000-05-09 2.10 2001-04-27 2.12 2001-08-29 2.14 2002-01-05 2.14.1 2002-05-10 2.16rc1 2002-06-07 2.16rc2 2002-06-07 2.14.2 2002-07-28 2.16 2002-07-28 2.14.3 2002-09-30 2.16.1 2002-09-30 2.14.4 Gerv
Everything from 2.12 forward is listed in the news section on the website. You just have to dig for it. Having a central reference for it would probably be cool for historical purposes.
> Something like this? Something very like that. And going back pre-2.12 would be a good thing. Gerv
For your information: The list of release dates in this bug report is from a message of mine to the mozilla-webtools mailing list. I constructed the list as part of the P4DTI project http://www.ravenbrook.com/project/p4dti/ when importing Bugzilla releases into the "Imported Materials" page at http://www.ravenbrook.com/project/p4dti/import/. Because of our project structure, it is a good idea to assign a date to each imported item. For the Bugzilla releases I obtained dates from the following sources, in approximate order of preference: (a) the date of a release announcement, (b) the timestamp of the tarball on the FTP site, when plausible, (c) the most recent file timestamp in the untarred result, when plausible, or (d) the comments in the CHANGES file. I could have used CVS to obtain dates, but I would have had to (a) figure out the Bugzilla release labelling policies and (b) make heavy use of CVS (I prefer Perforce).
Matthew is still going to be around to help out, but Jake is taking over the day-to-day front-line triage type stuff for Documentation

This would be good to have... do we want it in the guide or on the webpage though? I guess I could really go either way, personally.
I'd plump for the webpage. Gerv
Good enough for me :)

http://www.bugzilla.org/releases/ currently exists, and would be a very logical place to put this. That page also isn't linked to from anywhere (although various things inside it are linked to from news announcements and so forth). We need to get a link to this page somewhere obvious on the site, then include these dates on it.
Summary: List of release dates should be on website or in docs → Releases page needs to be linked to, and have the list of release dates on it
Attached patch Patch v1Splinter Review
Release page, should probably only be pushed when/after 2.18 and 2.16.8 ships. This currently only includes stable releases; although I could add development releases too. Demo can be seen at http://bugzilla-web.cso.me.uk/releases/
Attachment #171140 - Flags: review?
Stable releases only is good, but the current stable release should be more prominent - either separated off, or a different colour, or with a text label. Otherwise, nice :-) Gerv

Attached patch patch V2Splinter Review
Reword the page slightly, and add highlighting to the current stable release. Is this any better? (I know you gave it review+, but thought I would deal with your comments anyway)
Attachment #171301 - Flags: review?(gerv)
Comment on attachment 171301 [details] [diff] [review] patch V2 I like it.

This is now live, with the release numbers jiggled slightly so it still works without the rest of the release pages posted yet. It'll get jiggled back when the staged website for the release goes live.
