User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:109.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/119.0

Steps to reproduce:

I don't have a clue about the proper component. I was FORCED to make a choice.

In the To: field I typed net as the beginning of the first name. The proper first name should have been completed as Net... with the rest of the address. It kept the lower case version instead of replacing the "n" with "N". The recipient is very sensitive about her name.

Actual results:

In an effort to determine when this began, all mail to this person was reviewed from 1/1/2020. The problem first occurred --
6/29/2023, 19:10 User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:102.0) Gecko/20100101
Thunderbird/102.12.0
It occurs intermittently with through version 115.4.2. 115.4.3 is currently running but causing the issue is not predictable.

I also discovered that Thunderbird no longer includes the version number in the header. After 102.13.0 the header contains --
10/13/2023, 17:10 User-Agent: Mozilla Thunderbird
10/18/2023, 02:32 NO User-Agent Entry.
It is difficult to identify a version that may have an issue if the Version is not contained in the header.
I also discovered that Thunderbird does not log updated to the folder
C:\Users[u name]\AppData\Local\Thunderbird
The folder is empty.

Expected results:

in "To:" when net... was typed the result should have been Net...

When you type, it will autocomplete to what's in your address book. If it's not what you want, fix it in the address book.

test: beta 120.0b7

In Address Book
I have one person called 'dave' anbd one person called 'Dave'

In TO: I type: d
I'm offered a choice of 'dave' and 'Dave', which ever I select the name shown in 'TO' field is identical to whatever name I have in address book.

Agree with Magnus.
I can reproduce this error, but only if I have the data incorrectly set up in Address Book.

Check in all your various Address Books for that particular person and ensure the spelling is as desired.
Note: there maybe more than one entry for that contact.
Also check - you may have 'First' Name spelt with a Capital 'N', but 'display' name spelt with a lower case 'n'. If your settings are set up to use the display name then it may explain why you are seeing 'n' and not 'N'.

Lower case "n" does not appear in contact information for this person. When you look at the image of email, the occurrences of the lower case "n" began with Thunderbird/102.12.0. The occurrences are random. Unfortunately I cannot tell you which versions of Thunderbird they are occurring in because after 102.13.0, Thunderbird stopped including the version in the header.

I have attempted to reproduce the problem but have not been successful. I had never paid any attention to this until the person brought it to my attention.

Now that I am aware of it, I will watch to see if it occurs.
