From Mail - select Tools-->Message Filters. Then the following occurs:
- 100% CPU used
- Amount of memory used by Mozilla grows by a few 100kB/sec until a crash occurs

I have multiple filters and each filter can have multiple rules.


Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. From Mail - select Tools-->Message Filters
2. Wait

Actual Results:  
Freeze - unable to use any Mozilla components,  then crash. The menu doesn't go
away during the freeze. In other words the "infinite loop?" occurs before some
repaint message is sent to hide the menu drop down.

Expected Results:  
Shown my message filters and let me edit them.

This also happens in Linux. First noticed it when trying to send an email when I
had filters in place. Doesn't occur if there are no filters.

Oddly enough, I had to add a new filter and manually edited the file with the
rules. Time went by and I felt masochistic enough to try and view my filters via
Tools-->Message filter menu. When I tried - all was OK! I haven't been able to
reproduce the problem (nor do I wish to).

I should have attached the original rule filter file that made me crash. Alas -
somedays I am an idiot. Hopefully, I still have provided enough information.

I have pretty much the same problem on Windows 95 OSR2 running Mozilla 1.3b.  It
also happened in earlier versions of Mozilla.  A new install seemed to fix it
temporarily but then it eventually re-occurred.

When it starts to occur, "Search Messages" in the "Tools" menu also causes lock-up.

Here is what happens, I pull down the "Tools" menu and pick either "Message
Filters" or "Search Messages".  The menu remains open and Mozilla is locked.  I
need to the "ctrl-alt-delete" thing to kill Mozilla.  I can restart Mozilla, and
have no problems as long as I avoid the mail "Tools" menu.

I am also running Mozilla 1.3b on Windowa 2000, but have not seen the problem
yet on this system.  One difference, besides being a more high-powered system,
is that I have not yet defined specific filters on my Windows 2000 system,
whereas I have close to 40 on the Windows 95 system.  (Much more spam at home
than at work...)

Tim Funk, is this bug still an issue for you?  Have you upgraded to a more 
current build of Mozilla (1.3 or 1.4RCx)?

I have not run into this problem since my last update in 'Comment #2 From Tim
Funk  2003-01-31 18:17'.  

I have since upgraded to 1.3 and still have not reproduced the problem. Feel
free to close the bug from my point of view since I am unable to reproduce. If I
can reproduce later - I'll reopen the bug and attach my filter ruleset. Sorry I
can't be of more help.
