Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; Q312461; .NET CLR 1.0.3705)
Build Identifier: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/releases/mozilla1.2.1/mozilla-win32-1.2.1-installer.exe
Whenever I install Mozilla version 1.2.1, the setup completes successfully and
the browser shows up and displays the mozilla home page. If I stick to this
instance of Mozilla, I can navigate wherever I want to after having set the
correct connection information (I use it behind a proxy at work and through an
ADSL ISP at home). But then, when I close Mozilla, I can never start it up
again, even if I shut down the machine in between. I can only unsinstall and
reinstall Mozilla to have it run once, just after setup. This happens with
versions 1.2.1 and 1.3 alpha, but not with former versions.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install Mozilla 1.2.1 on Wondows XP pro
2. Close the browser after installation
3. Try running it again. The process will just hang, leaving the dragon start-
up screen on the desktop for hours. Kill the process and try again, to no
avail.
Actual Results:
I cannot run the Mozilla browser properly. I can just uninstall and forget
about it, which is a pity
Expected Results:
Well, I expect it to run every time I double-click its icon !
- No theme was in use
- Machine: Dell Inspiron 8100, XP-Pro SP1 and a couple of development softwares
- Two versions of the JDK are installed: 1.3 and 1.4 beta. Also, J2EE 1.3.1,
WebLogic 7 & IntelliJ IDEA 3 (trial versions)
- Microsoft stuff: IE 6SP1, Office XP, Visual Studio 6 SP3, Visual Studio .NET

I use Mozilla on Win XP pro and have no such trouble. May be it is a you system
trouble (maybe some files was lock-up by system)? Try to install manualy delete
all Mozilla records in Registry and all Mozilla files.

no blocker
Reporter:
Can you please close mozilla, locate your mozilla user profile (it's in your OS
user directory) and delete the file "profile\xul.mfl" and all files in
"profile\chrome\*.*"
You will loose all additional installed Themes and language packs.
Severity: blocker → critical

Reporter, did deleting the file solve the problem?
I have encountered the same issues with mozilla.exe v 1.3a.
This occured with a volume license version of Windows XP Pro SP1, with the
following hotfixes installed:
Q329048
Q329115
Q329390
Q329384
Q322011
Q327979
Q328310
Q810565
Other config info of note:
SQL Server Personal Edition w Analysis and English Query
Windows 2003 .NET Administrative Tools beta
.NET Framework
Office 2002 w/ Frontpage
Visio 2002 SR1
SUN J2RE Standard Edition v 1.4.1_01
I had installed a previous working version of Mozilla as well, but did not
uninstall it prior to running the 1.3a installer.
After deleting the files mentioned in comment #3, I was able to use Mozilla 1.2.1
(Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.2.1) Gecko/20021130)
without any further issues on Windows XP.
