Steps to reproduce:

Entering settings/parameters section (or entering contacts section and display a contact content)

Actual results:

Thunderbird's settings/parameters section (and contacts section) is not responsive and this is causing problems. I've been using thunderbird on a desktop for a long time, and I can see that this problem is already very old. I'm running Thunderbird 115.4.1 on Linux Mint Cinamon. For my purposes, I like to set a fairly small window width for thunderbird : 700 or 800 pixels wide. But the settings section seems to require a minimum window width of 1450 pixels to see all elements. Many buttons are justified to the right, and with a fixed position (so resizing the window has no impact on their position). So if the window is smaller, as in my case, many buttons (especially the validation ones!) are simply invisible and inaccessible.

Expected results:

This sections should be responsive : if you want te buttons to be justified to the right, at least they shouldn't have a fixed position and be responsive.

Are you able to scroll horizontally and reach the content or is it completely inaccessible?

Yes, I can scroll horizontally and reach the hidden buttons. But depending on the size I give the window, in some cases I can't see any hint that I need to scroll (like a cropped object on the right). In that case, it can be a long puzzle to solve "where can I validate and save my choices ?" ;-)

For address book on a small screen you will be better off with Table Layout.

Settings in current nightly build (roughly equivalent to 128) for Mac seems pretty decent for me - the left panel collapses to icons and there is horizontal scroll bar. I'm changing this bug report to be just about Settings (one issue per bug report please)
