total mail count for INBOX folder on IMAP account is off by 1

The total emails count that appears at the bottom of the mail window ("Total:n"), 
shows one more email then there are in the INBOX folder (the toplevel folder) of
an IMAP account.

Even when there are no email in the folder at all, it shows "1".
I've tried compacting the folder, and empty trash, but no help.

Apperently it is some error in the INBOX.msf file.
I've moved the one that was in my ImapMail directory, and re-started mozilla -
and the count is fine now.
I'll attach both version of the msf file (before and after) for you to see, if
this is of any interest.
