A new feature is available within Mozilla called midas which provides HTML editing abilities within the browser, so that people can do rich email content. This is something HotMail, Yahoo, etc. use. So, Phoenix will need to start bringing some composer along for this to work. I got it working by enabling composer in the phoenix build, but we need to slim down composer. All we need is the functionality itself, we don't need to package all the chrome and stuff.
Is this a bug or an enhancement request? Or as an extension?
This is a bug. Composer was removed from Phoenix to make it smaller, but that is now not possible. Pieces of composer must always be included in the browser now to make this editor control on web pages work.
This isn't major. This is a new feature. I'm not sure why you qualify this as a bug. Not supporting some new Mozilla feature isn't really a bug.
Severity: major → enhancement
Summary: Phoenix needs to include some composer components → Support Midas in Phoenix

What about Midas, now that Phoenix substitutes Mozilla-Browser? Will the Composer part compiled in again?
Phoenix will have midas support. Hopefully the midas or composer developers can help us incorporate midas support without having to compile in _all_ of composer as is currently the case.

I did some testing and this is working as long as we don't enable-plaintexteditor only.
I'm not sure exactly what capabilities are enabled in midas, but everything I've seen midas do can be done in mozile (http://mozile.mozdev.org). This is considerably lighter weight than composer and may be useful as a substitute.
The goal of the midas rich text editing functionality is to support existing web applications (Yahoo Mail, CRM apps, stuff like that) We don't want people to have to rewrite for Mozilla. The editor stuff is actually reasonably lightweight and is already in Firebird as far as I know. I'll verify on 0.6.1
Can't this bug be closed now because Firebird do support Midas now?
Yeah, this is fixed already.
