Details
Hello,
The Credential Management Team is currently working on the Address Capture Doorhanger project. We are seeking an engineering review for the following items:
Bug 1847888 - This is the initial version of our new address capture implementation.
Bug 1859968 - This follow-up bug addresses some accessibility issues.
Below are some details regarding the project:
Figma: link
User Story:
When users fill out an address form and click the submit button, Firefox will prompt a doorhanger, allowing users to choose whether to save or update the address. If they opt to save it, Firefox can then offer an autofill option for address fields in future sessions.
Shipping Schedule:
The current plan is to ship this feature in Firefox 123 Nightly and Firefox 124 Release.
Testing Instructions:
-
Set the following preferences:
browser.search.region = US/CA
extensions.formautofill.addresses.capture.v2.enabled = true
extensions.formautofill.addresses.supported = on -
Go to https://luke-chang.github.io/autofill-demo/basic.html and enter your Name, Street Address, and Email. After clicking the submit button, the address save doorhanger should appear.
To trigger the address update doorhanger, first save an address (either via the doorhanger or through about:preferences). Then, submit the form with the saved address and any other fields not previously saved.

Setting a11y-review flag to changes required since there is a bug that remains open. Feel free to re-request the review (especially, if there were significant changes in the frontend done) so we could confirm the accessibility of the doorhanger.
