I made a new installation of version 115esr on a windows 7 computer. When I log into a site and enter a password, the "save password" box appears. If I want to save the password. I say "yes". The password DOES NOT SAVE. I cannot manually enter a password in the saved-password list. I get an error message when I try to save it. Nothing works. I have checked every setting multiple times. I did not have this problem in earlier versions of Firefox on this same computer. Thank you. Harry A. Cole, PhD, 830-438-7407

Hcole, can you please mention the exact site for which the password is not saved? I tried on Win7x64 using Firefox build 115.6.0esr and password is saved for wikipedia, gmail, facebook. Thank you.
Thank you for the quick response. The version I used was 115.5.0esr (Win 7x64), which I downloaded and installed about a week ago. My security software is Microsoft Security Essentials for which I have never had any issues with earlier FF versions. For each site I logged into, I got the "save" popup with the login-in information in it. I selected "save". But 115.5.0esr did not save ANY login information (addresses, passwords) for ANY web site I tried. It would not even create an entry - "Passwords" remained empty. Also, "Passwords" would not permit me to enter login information manually - I selected manual entry (in Passwords), typed in the information (site, user ID and password) but when I hit "enter" I got an error message that it could not be done. The sites I tried were three banks, my insurance company, and Verizon. I do not use gmail, wikipedia and facebook. I have never had issues with these sites with older versions of FF. I cannot give you the login information because it is private. I "solved" the problem by deleting 115.5.0esr and downloading and installing a much older version that I believe to be good because it appears to be working on my other computers. Unfortunately I have to re-enter the information anew with each site. Again, thank you. Harry A. Cole, Bulverde, TX.
Thank you, again, Ms Chiorean,
Two follow-up comments this morning (12/15/2023): 1) My wife's computer has FF 115.0.3 (not esr). It appears to correctly save login information in Passwords. 2) You said your version was 115.6.0esr. I believe (but I may be wrong) I saw somewhers that the ESR version is up to 115.6.1 . Could the xxx.6 version have fixed the password problem. Mmmm, I wonder.

Since this seems to work now, we can close it. But if still reproducing on your side please open a new defect. Thank you.
Thanks. I assume from Ms Chiorean that there was a problem, and it has been fixed. My solution was to uninstall 115esr and install 115.0.3. It seems to work. One further request - please allow user to turn off the pesky "update" pop-up. Thanks again. HCole
