User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win 9x 4.90; en-US; rv:1.2.1) Gecko/20021130 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win 9x 4.90; en-US; rv:1.2.1) Gecko/20021130 When i try to reach the Preferences section from the Edit menu and click on it,Mozilla becomes locked and stops working. Then,i have to perform Ctrl-Alt-Del every time to unlock the system.Even after i reinstalled Mozilla, the problem continued.I couldn't able to reach this important feature. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Open the Mozilla 2.Click on "Edit" 3.Click on "Preferences" Actual Results: Simply,Mozilla gets locked and becomes like a "stone" ! Then, anything seen in the browser window (etc:menus, page links and others) don't work and freeze. Expected Results: The expected normal function is : When one clicks on the "Preferences" section,Mozilla gets the related dialog box to the screen. I don't know what the real reason for it,but I can even suppose to format and setup Win-98 again to use this cool "baby" monster with its all functions working! I love it and i must confess that since i installed the Mozilla last week,i haven't used Microsoft IE-6.0.That's all now and Best Regards...
Does creating a new profile (mozilla -ProfileManager) help?
Do you have any other chrome installed such as the Calendar or Spell Checker?
I have the same problem. Creating a new profile does fix the problem (in the new profile only). I do have calendar installed. Once edit-> preferences is choosen Mozilla 1.2.1 chews memory at about 4K/sec and 100% cpu usage. If someone tells me where the preferences are stored I can attach my preferences file. The problem also always occurs witht he faulty profile.
I renamed my XUL.mfl file and the problem went away. When I copied the XUL.mfl file back the problem reappeared. In my case I think this is a duplicate of #169777.
