Steps to reproduce:

After moving a directory (this is the third time this has happened), the contents of a directory (the messages in it) are not more displayed.
This is a random situation that occurs after supernova installation. The new TB seems unreliable....unfortunately... I will be forced to leave TB if this bug has no a reliable solution.

Actual results:

The messages are not visible... When I import the directory into Mail (MAcOs - sonoma), the messages are visible again. Of course, I also tried to use the recovery features of TB and delete the msf file.

Expected results:

If you want I can send also the printscreen of what happens under TB (Supernova) and under Mail (MacOs Sonoma)

Does this happen in troubleshoot mode? Help > Troubleshoot Mode

The problem persists in troubleshooting mode... This was the first thing I checked when the bug first appeared. And of course I checked it again just before posting here. Please bear in mind that I've been using TB since version 3.1... many, many years ago... and I'd like to continue using it, but this bug is extremely annoying for my work activity and I need a mail that is 100% reliable in preserving the integrity of the message. At the moment, unfortunately, this is not the case for TB.

There is no error; the directory appears simply empty in TB; if I trasferred/copy it under Mail (MacOs) I have no problem to see its content

Does it happen in Thunderbird 128 if you have turned off automatic compact in Settings?

Flags: needinfo?(marco.rossi)

I have not yet installed TB 128. The problem is totally random and regards a very limited numbers of directories. It was present also before Supernova

Flags: needinfo?(marco.rossi)

I will install TB 128 when it will be available as update.

You have used four different words to describe what you are doing - import, move, copy, transfer - so it is unclear precisely what you are doing to make this problem happen. Also, none of these fully describe how you are doing this.

Please state step by step what you doing with mouse and menus, from start to finish.

  1. click X
  2. chose Y
  3. next step
