User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:121.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/121.0

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Install fcitx5-mozc.
  2. Open Firefox linux.
  3. Open a YouTube live stream.
  4. Click on the live chat textbox.
  5. Enable mozc input and attempt to type in romaji.

Actual results:

Consonants are immediately committed as full-width Latin letters. (Example shown in attachment, げ is interpreted as gえ)

Expected results:

Nothing is committed until the user presses the enter key.

Hi Masayuki, are you able to reproduce this? Can you please help us set the severity as well?

(Sure, I'll try to check this next week.)

Sorry for the delay, I tried to reproduce this bug, but unfortunately, I couldn't reproduce this bug with Kubuntu LTS, Fcitx5, Mozc and Firefox (installed by default), Firefox Nightly (Mozilla) and debug build which I built locally.

Takumi-san, which distribution do you use? If it's possible, I'd like you to attach a log file of IME handler with the following steps:

  1. Bookmark YouTube
  2. Close Firefox
  3. Open Firefox from Terminal with MOZ_LOG=IMEHandler:4,sync MOZ_LOG_FILE=~/IMEHandler ./firefox.
  4. Open the bookmark with mouse click
  5. Click the search box in YouTube
  6. Type "ge"
  7. Close Firefox with mouse

Then, you'll have a log file under your home directory whose size is not 0. It's for the main process which IME handler runs in. Please attach it to this bug. (Be careful, the log file will contain all text which you type during the browsing session, so, do not type anything private like passwords.)

I use EndeavourOS, which is an Arch-based distro. It specifically only happened with textboxes in the live stream chat but I can no longer replicate the behaviour as of writing.

Oh, sorry, I misunderstood your report, and also thank you for the update. So, I guess that it was a bug of YouTube and it's already fixed in their side.
