Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:121.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/121.0

Steps to reproduce:

Open any YouTube video.
Pause it and use comma (,) and dot (.) to skip frame by frame.

Actual results:

It does not skip frame by frame. Sometimes skipping forward actually skips back and vice versa. If I skip 1 frame back and forth over and over again the 2 frames I'm skipping between change, even though they shouldn't.

Expected results:

When I skip forward 1 frame, it goes forward 1 frame, same for going back 1 frame.

Hello, thank you for the bug report!
Unfortunately I could not reproduce your issue. Would you be so kind as to answer a few questions so we can investigate this further?

Moving the Product to ‘Core’ and Component to ‘Audio/Video’. Please change if there’s a better fit, thank you.

The first thing I tried was Troubleshoot mode, which fixed the issue, but when I turned it off the issue was also fixed in normal mode. When it happened again a day later I tried the new profile option. That did not work, I was still having issues in a new profile. I then closed the new profile tab and turned on Troubleshoot mode, which fixed it and again after turning it off it was still working fine. I then thought it may just need a restart so I wanted to wait for the issue to happen again, but after 3-4 days it still hasn't happened again.

I asked 2 friends who also use Firefox and both of them had the issue when I wrote the ticket. When the reply came I asked them to try the fixes.
One of them tried the Troubleshoot mode. The issue was fixed in Troubleshoot mode, but turning it off it started happening again. They didn't follow through with anything else.
The other one said that they no longer had the issue and they were on win10 version 121.0 64bit.

I am currently on version 121.0.1 (64-bit) and the original issue is not happening, but when I pause the video and then use , and . to skip it always skips -2 frames on the first use. Skipping forward goes back 1 frame, skipping back goes back 3 frames. This is only after pausing, once per pause.

So it happened again, restarting Firefox and my PC did not fix it. I made a new profile in about:profiles, but it was still happening. That's when I recorded this video: https://youtu.be/Zt_HyQFTMM8

The severity field is not set for this bug.
:jimm, could you have a look please?

Thank you for all the additional information!
Managed to reproduce the issue mentioned in Comment 2( the comma punctuation mark skips a few frames instead of one after pausing the video) on Firefox Nightly 124.0a1 and Firefox 123.0 on macOS 12.
