User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.3a) Gecko/20021207 Phoenix/0.5 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.3a) Gecko/20021207 Phoenix/0.5 I think the description in the title covers it, but in a bit more detail... The quick launch toolbar DOES reuse windows for launching shortcuts, WHEN it is UNCHECKED. *1. Enable the quick launch toolbar in the start toolbar (the main windows toolbar) by right clicking anywhere on the toolbar, go to "toolbars" and make sure there is a check next to the "quick launch." (Make sure you see an area to type URLs in your start menu toolbar.) 2. Go to the "control panel" 3. Go to the "internet properties" 4. Go to the "Advanced" tab. 5. Find the check box that says "reuse windows for launching shortcuts" The way it should work: a) When this is checked, I type something into this toolbar (example: cnn.com) and then it comes up in my browser. Then I type something new (example:onion.com) and then the onion.com comes up in the same window. -CORRECT- b) When this is UNCHECKED, I type something into this toolbar (example: cnn.com) and then it comes up in my browser. Then I type something new (example:onion.com) and then the onion.com comes up in a NEW window. I now have 2 windows open, cnn.com AND onion.com. -CORRECT- ***This is the effect that I am going for.*** In my download of Phoenix: a) SAME as above. -CORRECT- b) When this is UNCHECKED, I type something into this toolbar (example: cnn.com) and then it comes up in my browser. Then I type something new (example:onion.com) and then the onion.com comes up in THE SAME window. I now have ONLY 1 window open. The onion.com INCORECTLY REPLACES cnn.com and does not launch a new window. -INCORRECT- I regularly surf the web via the quick launch toolbar, and I like the fact that it launches new windows when I do so (as opposed to opening up a new window and then needing to change the address.) So that is how I noticed that this is not working. If I was not clear enough and you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me via e-mail or by phone 212-665-2306. I have been very excited about using your new product and thank you for your time. Actual Results: Unchecking "reuse windows for launching shortcuts" did not work correctly for the "quick launch" toolbar. Expected Results: Described above

Internet Properties/Options in Windows relates to Internet Explorer only. It does not nor will it control Phoenix's behaviour. --> This bug is therefore INVALID.

The Mozilla equivalent to the IE pref "reuse windows for launching shortcuts" is bug 75138, and changing the default value of that pref is bug 35578.

Summary: The quick launch toolbar DOES reuse windows for launching shortcuts, even WHEN it is UNCHECKED in the internet properties section of the control panel → Quick Launch toolbar reuses windows, even when "reuse windows for launching shortcuts" unchecked in Control Panel > Internet
I don't think there are any plans for sharing this setting with IE, so marking as a dup of the bug for making a Mozilla pref that does the same thing. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 75138 ***
