Steps to reproduce:
Use case: I keep important messages open in tabs so I can come back to them later in the day, essentially "pinning" messages. I also like keeping messages filed away in folders automatically with message filters.
I run my filters on a 10-second delay after messages are read so I have a chance to sort through them, and "pin" the important ones.
The problem is, if a message filter ever files a tabbed message, the message displayed in the pane swaps out permanently for a different message, not the one I "pinned".
If I'm lucky, I can remember the original message and find it in the folder it went to. The random message it switches to is useless to me; I never "pinned" that one.
Expected: The message open in the tab should remain the same as when first opened. It shouldn't switch to a different one simply because the message moved to a folder.
- Open Thunderbird to the main screen, with at least one message already in the main Inbox.
- Create a new folder in the Inbox (e.g., "Test Folder").
- Create a new message filter (e.g., subject is "My Bugzilla Test") moving the message to our new test folder. Set the filter to run manually so we have time to reproduce the bug.
- Send yourself a new e-mail matching that message filter (e.g., subject "My Bugzilla Test").
- Open the message in a new tab.
- Run the message filter.
Actual results:
The message is filed in the correct folder (as expected). However, a different message now appears in the tab we opened, not the original message.
Expected results:
The original message should still appear in the tab.
