User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:121.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/121.0
Steps to reproduce:
I have an email account which polls as IMAP to outlook.office365.com
I noticed that my win11 is putting up notices of "Authentication failure while connecting to server..." every minute or so.
So I returned to the server settings, and made sure that "check for new messages every..." was .un.checked. it is
Actual results:
Despite that setting [and the setting: unchecked "check for new messages at startup"],
it appears that TBird is polling the server every minute or so.
I assume that recent changes in the server/domain/company have made the access unsuccessful, but why can't I stop the popup messages. I make that assumption because this seems to be a new problem.
I also note that if I .check. the new messages every with 30 minutes, there still is a popup notice every minute or so.
Expected results:
What am I missing, here? Shouldn't the polling stop, if I am unchecked ? Without success, I've hunted in other settings for plausibly incorrectly set options that could cause the problem.
Also:
Even though the "check for new messages at startup" is NOT checked,
Every time I open/startup TBird, the authentication failure popup is displayed immediately

This has been a known issue. Also, version 102 is no longer supported.
Do you see this with version 115? Click on Help > About to update.
Hi, Wayne. Since filing the report, I've not updated, as I wanted to understand the GUI and other changes, frankly.
I note that the server works, so that effect is not directly testable. However, if i change the server name to *.comm, instead of *.com, the inbox seems to hang in constant thinking.
also, [and i m not sure if this is an imap expected behavior] even if I set the start up connection OFF, when I start up, and go to the inbox or sent on that imap account, it makes a connection, rather than waiting my every-11-minutes setting.
i ll keep an eye on this when i get around to allowing the update.

Thanks for the update
We'll leave this open for a month. Unless someone dupes it.
