I used 1999.11.12.08 win32 nightly build in Windows 98. When in address book, I select a card I filled with name, last name and email address. Then click on "new message" as to send a new message with that address. An email window appears, but after 2-3 sec of loading the application (freeze). I was able to reproduce the bug three times (after reboot). Haven't (can't) tried on other platforms.
Is it ok for you when you just bring up a new compose window without going through the address book to select a name?
for 1999.11.12.08-M12 win32: "new message" works fine in Messenger. At first I thought the problem would be caused by the fact that I copied "prefs.js" from NC4.61 in to the mozProfile dir, but it didn't change any thing and still crashed without migrating the prefs. Then I downloaded [1999.11.12.18-M11 win32], and it worked perfectly fine, without migrating the "prefs.js" AND with my NC4.61 prefs; the email window comes up without problems and the address is in the field. It seems independent from prefs.js migration. Needed a third try, so I used build [1999.11.14.08-M12 win32] and it worked all fine, diplaying the address correctly and without crashing. It might just be the build...
Thanks for the add'l info. We'll try this in the M12 builds that are available and update this bug report.
We have a dup bug filed against Linux: http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18853

Works fine for me on Windows too (build from this morning). I have tried card with and without email address.
Per comment on 11/14 by reporter "Needed a third try, so I used build [1999.11.14.08-M12 win32] and it worked all fine, diplaying the address correctly and without crashing." I tried this on win98 using the builds mentioned, I saw the crash too on 1999.11.14.08 M12 but it did not crash on 1999.11.14.08 M12 and 1999.11.15.12 M12. Linux build 1999.11.12.08 was OK using this scenario too. This could be resolved as worksforme if no one knows what the fix was.
