User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.3b; MultiZilla v1.1.33 (b)) Gecko/20030103 Netscape/7.0
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.3b; MultiZilla v1.1.33 (b)) Gecko/20030103 Netscape/7.0
When I click on the main menu and open a menu and then tack the cursor off the
menu, the menu will not close. I have to choose anyother menu item for the old
one to close, but that one will not disappear unless one of the following are done:
- choose another menu.
- click on a menu option, or
- click on windows bar.
Clicking on anything else, like a web page, email message or anywhere on the
window will not clear the menu.
I have installed a fresh new install (bin and profile) with todays nightly and
the same problem exists. I am sure that the menu retracted when the curos was
off the munu foxus.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.click on a menu
2.leave menu (menu does not retract)
3.click web page and menu doesn't retract
4.click another menu, old tracts and new one opens, but again does not retrack
when cursor leaves the menu without clicking a menu item
5.you must click the main menu that was open for it to close or the windows bar
Actual Results:
The menu will remain open when cursor focus is off the menu. This happens to
any of the main menu items (File, Edit, View and so..).
Expected Results:
When cursor leaves the menu without clicking a menu item, the pull-down menu
should retract/close when cursor leaves the menu focus.

Worksforme in a 1.3a build on Win98 -- clicking the web page makes the menu
close. Is this only a problem with nightlies post-1.3a? Or only a problem with
multizilla installed?
According to comments this was caused by the fix for bug 179567.

Is there a difference in the various versions of Windows, whether menus roll up
when you move the mouse pointer off them (not clicking)?

I have installed a clean version of the latest 1.3b nightly and the menu still
does not close when the cursor leaves its focus. I don't know if it is an OS
issue as I only use XP. I am sure it had broken down after the start of the
1.3b and it was working before Christmas because I can remember fighting with
the menus because they were closing too fast as I skimmed from the main to the
secondary menus.

I had tested each nightly since 1224 and have narrowed it down to nightly 0103,
where the menus started acting up. I had tested todays (0104) nightly and it
too has menu problems. I had tested them with and without SWF plugin and tested
with and without java running. 0102 was the last one where the menus
disappeared when clicking anywhere on the window, just the way windows menus does.
So somewhere between 0102 and 0103 the code changed or something else got in
there. Sorry about the initial timing, but durning the holidays I lost track of
what I had installed. I had tested on two seperate system with XP and 0103 and
0104 the menus don't clear properly. Sorry I don't have any other OS installed
here.

-> Confirming.
I started seeing this with 2003010305 (although it may have been around a little
before then). It's definitely still there with 2003010405. I'm using Windows XP.

The same thing occurs on the 0105 build. The menus do not close when clicking
other sections of the window, with the exception of the main window bar and
other menu. Last working build is 0102.

There is another problem with this bug. If I open menu and then click to an edit
field of the window (URL bar for example), the menu is still opened and mouse
focus (with the caret) is in the edit filed, but the keyboard focus is still in
the menu and I can navigate through the menu by keyboard. (Windows 2000,
2003010405).
