When I right-click on the mozilla quick-start load icon in the toolbar and
select mail/news Mozilla Mail/News reader opens. To the left I am subscribed to
only 1 news site. News.grc.com (shown by mozilla news as GRC) When I expand
downward so that it lists the groups that I am subscribed to the groupdisplayed
as g.news (really grc.news) ALWAYS shows that there are 59 new postings. This is
not true because there are no new postings in that group.  When I click on that
group there are no new postings and the #59 and the bold of the group goes away.
I can then close the group by clicking on the icon to the left of the "grc" site
to retract the group. Then expand the group and the 59 new postings supposedofly
there show up. (Repeat this process as many times as you want)


**Note: The count is ALWAYS 59**

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open Mail/news reader
2.Subscribe to news.grc.com
3.subscribe to the group grc.news
4.Expand the group "grc"
5.Mark all messages as read
6.Exit Mail/news reader
7.open mail/news reader
8.expand grc
9.59 messages appear
10. click on group g.news
11. 59 messages are not there and count dissapears
12. retract grc
13. Repeat setps 8-11 if you like

Actual Results:  
Shown above in the "Steps to Reproduce" secion.

Expected Results:  
Display that there are no new messages by not bolding the group and by not
showing the count of 59.

**NOTE: The count is always 59**

If I leave the GRC news site expanded then close the mail/news reader and
re-open it then then the 59 does not appear untill I retract the group and open
it again.
So the group MUST be retracted and expanded again for this to work.

Sounds more like bug 162342 than bug 187821 which you commented on.
Snala, I'd try marking all read in that group and see if the problem goes away.
It sounds like the newsrc and the .msf file are out of sync.

Actaully I've seen this before (in n.p.m.rdf!) but I've since changed servers...
either dupe of bug 108650 or another bug bug 71728 depends on
