User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.2.1) Gecko/20021130 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.2.1) Gecko/20021130 I used to use Mozilla 1.0, whenever i would click on a link to an mp3 file. It would ask me where I wanted to save the file. I installed the new version, 1.2.1, and whenever I click on a link for an mp3 file, it opens the file in mozilla like it was a web browser. I cannot find a way to save the file by default. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Click on any link for an mp3 file 2. 3. Actual Results: The mp3 file is opened, it looks all wild. Expected Results: What it used to do. Prompt me where to save the file. I do not know if I accidently made Mozilla open the files by default. I already tried to RESET the download manager.
Please give us an example URL. This sounds like a misconfigured server that sends the mime-type text/plain for that file. (yes it works in IE because it vialotes the RFC)
Reporter : You mean that mozilla plays this file ? Reasons for this : a) you have a plugin that plays mp3. see help/about plugins (you can configure quicktime in the system control [mime type] that it should not handle mp3s) b) helper app in edit\pref..\Navigator\Helper apps
I uninstalled Quicktime and it fixed the problem. THANKS!!!!!!!!!!

You don't need to uninstall quicktime ! Go to the windows system control, quicktime, Browser Plugin , Mime settings and disable .mp3 for quicktime After that restart mozilla and it should work.
