User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.3a) Gecko/20021212 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.3a) Gecko/20021212 I have printed received mail messages in the past with no problem. Now whenever I attempt to print or even preview a mail message mozilla hangs. I'm not aware of any changes to mozilla installation in the meantime, or to underlying printer installation. CPU utilsation goes up to 100%. I cannot close the mozilla window (It comes up with the extra windows close non responsive process dialogue, but even that will not kill it of) and I have to kill mozilla from the task manager. This only seems to affect mail - I can print/preview web pages without the problem. It does not seem to be related to any particular mail message - it is repeating with any message, including plain text (as opposed to html). Printing to an Epson EPL-550 using standard Windows XP drivers. Printer is operational for other programs. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
Can you try this: Quit Mozilla (and Quickstart, if running) Then delete the file XUL.mfl in your profile directory (It's a cache and rebuilds after startup if missing) Now restart. Any change?

Thanks for the extremely quick and effective response. That did indeed solve the problem. I'm impressed. It also solved another one - I had been having problems trying to create a new suibfolder on any of my existing mail folders - The section "create as a subfolder of" was blank. That has also been resolved by deleting the cache. As far as operation of my system is concerned this one can be closed. I hope there is enough information in that to help you find the offending bit of source code.
Thank you, but there's quite a few of these hangs/freezes reported - all related to window creation. XUL.mfl is the "usual suspect" these days. Keep in mind the Installation Notes, however. Resolving as dup of bug 169777. Also see bug 134576 and dependencies. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 169777 ***
