(3 files, 1 obsolete file)
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:122.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/122.0
Steps to reproduce:
On Arch Linux with Gnome desktop (Wayland):
- Download a file (it doesn't matter if you store it somewhere or simply open it)
- Once it is downloaded, open the download panel
- Click on the button that opens the directory that contains the file
Actual results:
The directory is open twice, in two distinct windows of the file manager.
Clicking the button again immediatly opens only one new window. But after a while, a new click will trigger the bug again.
Expected results:
Only one window should appear.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::Widget: Gtk' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Can you please create screencast of the issue?

Thanks.

Also can you run Firefox on terminal with MOZ_LOG="WidgetPopup:5" env variable, only once click on the button that opens the directory that contains the file (so it's opened twice) and attach the log here.
The log should reveal if Firefox gets two button down mouse events or if it's a bug in Firefox.
Thanks.

This looks significant:

Failed to query file manager via ShowItems: Le délai d’attente est dépassé
Looks like you're use DBus file portal (from snap?) but it fails to respond in time so regular file dialog is opened. But the DBus one popped out after it.

Thanks. It looks like broken OS config. Can you run on terminal any other gnome app (like gedit) and try to fire file dialog and check if there's any 'Failed to query file manager' messages on terminal?
Thanks.

I've tested with LANG=en_US.UTF-8 gedit and got nothing on the terminal when clicking on "Open" to show the file dialog.

Can you try to set widget.use-xdg-desktop-portal.file-picker to 0 at about:config, restart browser and try again?
Thanks.

I've set widget.use-xdg-desktop-portal.file-picker to 0 and tried to reproduce the bug twice, looks good for now. But the bug is quite random so I need to test this more.
I already have the latest stable Firefox (124.0.2 as of today). I tried running nightly version but it failed to start with my user profile. It worked OK with a new profile but I would not have been able to tell whether the bug was solved in nightly or because I was not using my profile, so I didn't try to reproduce the bug further.

You may check Mozilla release binaries (https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/) instead of Nightly. It should work with your recent profile.

I just had the issue again with widget.use-xdg-desktop-portal.file-picker set to 0 so it looks like it doens't help. I'm on Firefox 125.0.1 now BTW.

It looks like a bug in Gtk file dialog implementation.
