Steps to reproduce:

1.open Firefox when the battery is on 100%
2.use Firefox for five minutes and the battery will be already on 89%

Actual results:

Oh the battery is not even holding it for six hours

Expected results:

I don't know, maybe the phone wouldn't hold for only five hours?

Would it be possible to grab a profile while you're getting that unusual battery drain? You should be able to do it following these steps. One of the method allows to record directly on your phone without any usb connection

I have a brand new Samsung A15, so I don't think I have an issue with my battery.

At night without using my phone and with routines to save energy (+disable wifi and 4G) I lose +10% of battery.
After uninstalling Firefox, I only lost 2-3%.

"Battery" app also display high battery usage from Firefox like 14% per day for only 5 minutes display on screen.
Hibernation doesn't seem to stop battery drain.

Hello,

I reinstall Firefox app on Sunday March 31th .
I am not able to reproduce the issue I had.
I try to use a widget on home screen, background video, Pip video, sync my Firefox account, leave tabs or close everything.

Only change between the issue and now is apps update (including Firefox 122->123) and an android security update (January 1st 2024)

Should be good to know why and when this can happen if possible.

Hi David!

On the profile that you posted we don't see anything very concerning, we did notice there were several extensions installed. Could you maybe try disabling your extensions and seeing if the issue still reproduces?

In addition when you're seeing the issue it would be helpful to see a profile of a longer period (1-2 minutes), to get a better idea of what your browser may be doing.

I did not posted any profile.
I suppose you talked about the profile from a.mpoygiatiwths.

I currently uninstall Firefox from my phone but if necessary, I can install it a post a profile when the issue occur.
However, I am not sure it is relevant because the issue doesn't seems to appear during browsing.

On these profiles, it's possible to enable cpu graphs from the console:
experimental.enableProcessCPUTracks()

There are some spikes here and there. Sometimes we see the CPU is running at ~25% after a spike even though not activity still occurs.

But when it's idle we can see the CPU usage is always between 1 and 5%. Is that expected?
It would be good to have similar profiles for a Firefox that doesn't have the issue, is that possible?

I removed Firefox from my phone.
Installed it an hour later. Started it and only went through the initial steps. I didn't change any settings.
I checked and it does not consume battery. It usually start doing it after I've set the app like I want it, use it for a while ans so on ...
