Steps to reproduce:
Enter this valid URL into the address bar and hit enter: http://www.mediafire.com/?bcpbore8sefclg0
Actual results:
Firefox searches the text of the URL in my default search engine
Expected results:
Firefox opens the page pointed to by the URL

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Address Bar' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

I tried to reproduce this issue on Firefox 122.0 (2024-01-18) using Win 10, but with no success. After I entered the URL into the address bar and hit enter the page is opened.
If I choose one of the search engines in the address bar and then enter the URL, the text of the URL is searched in the selected search engine.
Is that the issue you are referring to? Could you maybe add a short video of this issue?
