Steps to reproduce:

Moved firefox to my secondary monitor

Actual results:

Two icons are shown on the taskbar when firefox is running on the secondary monitor

Expected results:

Only one icon should be on the taskbar

The priority should really be raised on this. Firefox is basically unusable on a multimonitor setup, especially if you use the "Never" combine taskbar option on Windows 11.

A lot of people will be switching to Windows 11 by October 2025. That's the first thing you notice when you use Firefox on Windows 11 for the first time. And you know how we tend to criticize visual flaws far more than necessary.

One more thing: The problem occurs primarily when working with Firefox on one monitor and connecting the second monitor while it's running.
If I start Firefox on a device that already has two monitors connected, the problem doesn't occur.
And not only do the icons duplicate, but so do the previews of the open tabs.

I don't think they care about that. They're more worried about adding AI and sidebar features nobody asked for than fixing the critical bugs in the browser. I switched from Chrome after the Manifest V3 fiasco, but the ongoing bugs I'm experiencing daily with Firefox are getting really annoying.

Well, that's an added corner case, but the issue still "primarily" happens when the monitors are already connected.

Confirming how this bug can be replicated easily on Windows 11. Change taskbar setting to when using multiple displays, show my taskbar apps on --> main taskbar and taskbar where window is open. Move Firefox window in between the two monitors and duplicate tabs will appear. This issue can be temporarily fixed by closing Firefox and restarting windows explorer or changing the taskbar behavior options. While this happens reliably with the option shown above, this is prevalent in all taskbar behavior options for multiple displays. Just kinda random on when it decides to do it.
