User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:109.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/115.0

Steps to reproduce:

Win10 environment.
Copy an message (email) to some disk location by using left click mouse (hold and move), the subject of the message has to have longer name (in my case more than 75 characters,
e. g. Subject: 12345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890)

Actual results:

If the message is saved through right click menu on the message and "Save as" to a specific windows folder location, the name of the file is correct (in the case of the example above) 12345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890 - 'account (email address) ' - date.eml,

but if the message is saved to the same location with LEFT mouse (click and hold) + moving the message to the folder, the name of the file becomes: 12345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234...567890.eml. So part of the subject/name is shorten byt "...".
This happened only with emails of TB, in other cases of saving/copying a file in Win10 i did not observe such behaviour.

Expected results:

Although I understand, that the name is not the same in both cases of saving an email, there is no reason to shorten the length of the subject which has to become a file name (change a part of the subject with "..."), only if a limitation of windows path length would cause such shorten. If you want to keep also (or only) the part of the name that was shortened, you have to manually edit the name of the saved file name of the message.

I observe this behaviour only few months (maybe since version 115?)

The filename has always been shortened (bug 675448), but recently it was made even shorter, 85 characters (bug 1746139).

As Francesco writes, this was an intended change.

Thanks for the answer, but this change is very, very bad from a user's point of view. A lot of automatic emails from various government institutions in my country come with longer subjects, which means that when saving these emails to disk, I always have to manually change the shortened name, as important information is cut off. Very bad decisions, as it makes working with TB harder than before, and I see no relevant reason for this, as the email could be saved with right click/save as without being shortened (which is not as convenient as drag and drop).
