It's very practical to use all the keywords searches or just bookmark keywords from the desktop browser I created over the years.
And I can do that with Fennec. But as one of many omissions Fenix doesn't support this. Just plainly searches with the default search engine.

And now I'm being threatened by mozilla, that sync won't work with Fennec.

App-services should support most of this, but Fenix does not.

Desktop may be moving away from bookmark keywords to use search keywords instead (bug 1653261), bug 1807570 is for implementation of search keywords, so adding a see also for both of those.

@avada you may be shocked to learn that this used to work great for years. And in 2020 (Firefox 79) it was removed without any prior warning (also, IMO, without any necessity?) and has been an open problem ever since.

The linked issue has been open for years, and for all those years fenix users don't have any means to sync search keyword with desktop. God knows how long it will take to implement all those breaking changes.

Meanwhile firefox on ios has been supporting bookmark keywords for as long as I can remember 😉 (maybe it's removed now? I stopped using ios last year)

That was the response more than three years ago as well, by the looks of it. And it didn't happen.
So this should be enabled. And if desktop adds some different sort of keywords, than that should be implemented as well.

By the way. I remember a merger of search engine and bookmark keywords like 6-8 years ago. So what is this move? Move to yet a different sort of keywords?

In any ways I don't think it will happen, since bookmark keywords are not only for searches. And if anything of the sort would be pushed to central, there would be outrage.

@claudius I'm not shocked. I know. But Fennec is getting hard to use. A bunch of websites are using newer web features, just because it exists, since I have yet to see any that improved a site's feature set...
