Steps to reproduce:

Why is there no PGP component?

Thunderbird automatically sends the public key, which is nice. But adding keys is a total pain.

Actual results:

When receiving a key (from another Thunderbird user often) you need to download ir and manually import in extremely overcomplex steps.

Expected results:

To avoid abuse adding PGP keys may be opt-in. So when a key is detected in attachment, it is automatically passed to the "import public key from file" component but the user is prompted "Add PGP key of <email> ?".

Then add the key and use it from then on.

Thunderbird needs easy PGP otherwise nobody uses it. This is one of the big issues.

Do you mean, adding a key from an attachment?

It's possible that you haven't noticed the easy way to import.

When you receive an email with OpenPGP data and view it, you should see button labeled OpenPGP in the upper right area, close to the message time.

If you click that button, and the sender's key is found in the message, then there will be another button that allows you to import it.

Keys in received mails are also auto-collected for easy import once you want to use them.
