The answer was the same three times. Would "see previous" make you feel more fulfilled?
Chill out.

I am chilled, no worries. However without steps to reproduce you diminish your chances that someone will look into this. Is this about "File > Email Link..."? Something else?

I could not reproduce the issue on Win10x64 using FF build 123.0 and having Thunderbird as default, selecting "File > Email Link..." always opens Thunderbird no matter if it is opened or not.
Please add more steps so we can replicate your issue. Thank you.

There are no more steps. I'm going to switch to Edge and see if that helps.
I think it happened after the last Thunderbird update, but with so many
updates in the world today, who knows?

Thanks for trying.

This isn't actionable without more information, since we can't reproduce it, but I'll move it to a more useful component anyway.
If you are still seeing this issue in a current version of Firefox and currently updated Windows version please feel free to add that information and re-open the bug.

Current Firefox, Current Windows. Additional info
-
Using Yahoo Mail instead of Thunderbird works. This is not an acceptable work around.
-
If I add Thunderbird as a third-party email client, it will work for a period of time, then that will not work after a reboot or cache clean (not sure which removes the option).

Max, you recently did some work around mail providers. I don't remember if what you did touched upon anything that would cause the above behavior, can you advise?

Hi! I see no way how my changes could be related to that specific problem, because they are not active yet, but I hope you allow me to ask if you remember how you have installed Thunderbird? Have you used the Microsoft Store or downloaded an executable? (If you do not know, you could open the Store and try to install it from there. If its possible you do not have to actually click the install button to know, that you used the other install method last time)
As an intermediate solution you can:
- go to
about:preferencesand underapplications -> mailtochoose "always ask" (which would be one mouse click less convinient every time you click on a mailto link) - try to switch back to Thunderbird after that and see if it works (I am not confident that it can work, but I also see a slight chance)
- if it does not you can also try to configure a custom executable there. If this does not fix the issue, we would know for sure, that this bug is not a shell integration bug and that there is more probably something off with Thunderbird.
It would be most helpful to us if you could try all three methods and provide feedback with what happens, but I will also be glad if you tell us that either one of these worked for you. Good luck!

Since we have not heard from you in one month I am assuming that you have meanwhile found a solution. Because the problem was not reproducible on our side I am closing this bug with WORKSFORME.
We can also reopen the bug. Simply let us know if the problem still persists for you.

The bug is still there. I can not add anything more. I guess I wonder
if the bug may be in the Thunderbird code. I'll try some options there.
