Trunk build 2003-01-08: WinMe Overview: Delete an address book on the Mozilla Address Book (MozAB), that exists on both desktop and the palm device, HotSync and the address book remains on both. Steps to reproduce: 1. Start with an Address Book that appears in the MozAB and also exists on the Palm device (i.e. AB1) 2. Delete the Address Book in MozAB 3. Exit out of Mozilla 4. HotSync 5. Restart Mozilla and load the MozAB Actual Results: MozAB - the address book is back (AB1) Palm Device - the category is still present (AB1) Expected Results: MozAB- the address book (AB1) should be gone Palm Device - the category (AB1) should be gone This expected result more closely matches the behavior of the palm device with the palm desktop software. I also beleive this is what a user would expect.
Hey Ninoschka remember way back when we started PalmSync module testing (before ur sabatical) we decided that if a entire AB or category is removed from either Mozilla or Palm we will not remove from the other side to avoid accidental loss of data. Also removing an entire AB or category is a simple user task so we decided to let the user handle it. Hence we donot sync entire Address Book or Category deletions.

Please change line 3-4 in comment #1 above from "to avoid accidental loss of data" to "to avoid accidental loss of entire address book or category"

Trunk build 2003-02-12: WinXP Verified Fixed. - Delete a category with records on the palm device and it recategorizes each record in the Unfiled category and deletes the category(i.e. AB1). Sync and the corresponding address book is deleted (i.e. AB1) and the record that was recategorizes appears in the Mozilla AB Unfiled address book - as expected. - Delete a Mozilla address book with cards results in the address book and all its cards being deleted in Mozilla. Sync and the corresponding category (i.e. AB1) is deleted along with all its records - as expected.
