Steps to reproduce:
Thunderbird 115.8.1 (64-bit) with Windows 11 22H2
I think the issue is very old and I think that it was always like that.
It may be partially related to Bug 1824889
More than 2 accounts using POP only
"Unified Folders" with more than 2 accounts. Includes all "Inbox" and all "Sent" folders of more than 2 accounts.
"App icon option" set to "Show badge icon" and "Count of new messages"
"Automatically mark messages as read" unchecked.
New email arrives to one of the Inboxes. It still be marked as unread.
App icon pops up in the task bar and shows one message.
The "Inbox" (the "Inbox - Unified Folders" one) turns blue.
The sub-folder for account with new message in the "Inbox - Unified Folders" turns blue.
The account folder itself turns blue.
Actual results:
Go to "Inbox - Unified Folders" message list but NOT to the account sub-folder with the new email.
Select and delete the new email in the"Inbox" message list of the emails.
Now
NOT OK. App icon in the task bar DOES NOT disappear.
OK. The "Inbox" (the "Inbox - Unified Folders" one) turns white again.
OK. The sub-folder for account with new message in the "Inbox - Unified Folders" turns white again.
NOT OK. The account folder itself DOES NOT turns white.
It is required to extra click on one of the sub-folders (any of them i.e. Junk or Archives) in the account folder itself to make the icon disappear and the account folder to turn white how it supposed to happen.
Just clicking on the account folder itself does not help.
Expected results:
Deleting the unread marked email in the "Unified folders" email list should also update the status of new emails available of the original account folder and hide the the app icon for new emails in the task bar if there are no other new emails.
