Menus won't go away unless I select something

Details
Mozilla version M10 OS: Debian GNU/Linux 2.2 (Linux kernel 2.2) Window manager: icewm-gnome glibc version: 2.1.2 When I click on a menu in the menu bar, it appears as expected. However, the menu does not go away when I move the pointer outside the menu. This means the only way to get rid of the menu is to select something, which I might not want. It sounds unlikely that nobody noticed this before, but when I did a case-insensitive substring search on bug descriptions with the string "menu", I couldn't find any entry describing this problem.

You can also click outside of the menu to dismiss it. reassigning to saari.

Incidentally, this is proper behavior on some OSes.

I'm not convinced that this behavior is a bug at all. I dont know what user expectation is for Linux on this but I believe the current behavior is correct for Mac and Win32. To dismiss a menu, click outside the menu. If we implement the dismiss onMouseOut then what happens when you use the Alt key to drop down the menu but then move the mouse which was/is nowhere near the menu? 4.x behaves the same as Seamonkey currently on ALL platforms with regard to this issue. I'm tempted to mark this INVALID, but I'm cc'ing German for a UI consult.
I feel I must clarify a point before you close this bug; on my machine, the menus won't go away even if I click outside them. I really do have to select one of the items. Having to click outside the menus to make them go away would be an expected behaviour on Linux as well, for example the Gnome UI has this design.
