Affected versions

  • Nightly 126.0a1

Tested platforms

  • Affected platforms: Ubuntu
  • Unaffected platforms: Windows10, macOS

Preconditions

  • Install the Firefox en-US build
  • Set browser.search.region to US in about:config
  • Save several addresses and credit cards in about:preferences#privacy, Forms & Autofill section
  • Orca screen reader is enabled

Steps to reproduce

  1. Go to address form https://luke-chang.github.io/autofill-demo/basic.html
  2. Double-click on any field to trigger the autofill dropdown
  3. Use the autofill feature
  4. Listen to the screen reader as it reads the entries aloud
  5. Repeat same steps for https://luke-chang.github.io/autofill-demo/basic_cc.html

Expected result

  • The screen reader reads aloud all the autofilled values.

Actual result

  • When moving the mouse cursor outside the form, the screen reader stops reading aloud the autofilled value.

Regression range

  • I will search for any corresponding regression range, if applicable, and update the issue accordingly.

Removing the dependency here, as the issue can be reproduced in Firefox 125.0b9 where the autofill dropdown layout was horizontal.
As an additional observation, it appears that Orca reads aloud the string located near the mouse cursor. Please advise if we should consider this issue as invalid.
