User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.2.1) Gecko/20021130 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.2.1) Gecko/20021130 When attempting to access a Windows Server running remotely anywhere (www.remotely anywhere.com) and using the remote control function the Java Applet does not process keyboard input. Mouse clicks work. Details: the remote control function loads a java applet from the server which provides a view of the Windows Desktop in the applet. Through this applet, a user can see and control all aspects of the windows machine as if he/she was in front of it. When using the applet to enter keystrokes into a Command Prompt window, etc. The keystrokes are not passed to the applet. The interesting thing, is that this works fine under the Netscape 4.79-1 version packaged with Redhat 7.3. I am using Sun Java SDK 1.3 and 1.4, both plugins for Mozilla have the same issue. Both of them work fine for Netscape 4.79. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install RemotelyAnywhere on a Windows NT or 2000 or XP box (free download for eval 2. Use Mozilla on Linux to bring up remotely anywhere on Windows Box (usually http://<windows dns name>:2000) 3. Go to remote control and select Continue here. 4. Open a command prompt and type some characters Actual Results: No response from keyboard input Expected Results: Passed keyboard strokes to applet -> should appear in command Window. Note: This Works on Netscape 4.79.....I would expect Mozilla to work as well. System: All I have tried it on (All P3 500+, 256+ RAM) Running Redhat 7.2, 7.3 and 8.0. Stock glibc, modified kernel. Mozilla versions: .99, 1.01, 1.1, 1.2
I am experiencing something similar with Mozilla 1.5 release (20031016), and Sun's Java(TM) Plug-in 1.4.2-beta-b19 on Sun Sparc Solaris 8. Any applet can recieve mouse events, but not keyboard events. However, any window which the JRE pops up outside of the browser (e.g. proxy password request diaglogues) can accept keyboard input. Also, if you minimise and restore the mozilla window, the applet can accepts keys. Reproducability: Always Steps to reproduce: 1. Load a URL with a java applet, e.g: http://www.java4fun.com/games/jump.html 2. Try to use the keys after clicking in the applet to give it focus. Actual results: Nothing happens when you use the keys. Expected results: Frog moves when you use the keys, occassionaly under a bus. System: Sun Blade-100 500MHz, 1.1GB RAM with KDE 3.1 (SunOS foo 5.8 Generic_108528-13 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Blade-100)
Summary: No keyboard input when using Remotely Anywhere Remote Control (Java App) with Linux and Mozilla → No keyboard input when using Remotely Anywhere Remote Control (Java App) with Linux and Mozilla
