The Cursor-Symbol in forms disappears sometimes (for example in this form at the
moment).

reassign to xpapps. I am not sure who controls the cursor but I would guess a
gecko or xptoolkit issue

probably a dup, over to buster.
Sorry, I don't understand this bug.
First, let me define some terms as I use them to help clarify the problem:
1) cursor: the image related to the mouse or other pointing device
2) caret: the blinking insertion point shown in text at the point where the next
operation will take place.
3) single-line text control: a text type-in field, from either <input type=text>
or <input type=password>
4) text area: a multiple-line text type-in field, from <textarea>
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Using those definitions, could you describe more precisely what you see
happening, and what you do to cause it?

for now.
Summary: Cursor disappears → Caret disappears in textarea (and input?)
I'm guessing that the author of this bug really intended to use the term "caret"
and saw this problem in textareas (and possibly input areas). Changing summary.
I think this is a duplicate of some bug# which I don't have handy now...
Whiteboard: awaiting comments from reporter → will mark invalid unless we get some clarifications from the submitter
Hyatt and Saari have lots of focus/caret bugs, so this is almost certainly a
duplicate. I'll send one more note to the submitter, and if we don't get some
clarification on this bug report I'll just mark it invalid.
Yes, Olli meant 'caret'. Another good example of this can be found on Linux
builds, where (for example) when you create a new mail message, no caret apperas
in the mail message body whilst typing. (Info taken from private E-mail
correspondence, 13.1.00)

from a private response to a request for more info:

I've reported Bug 18942 a long time ago, and this bug appears in forms. The
what you call 'caret' (I've called it cursor), disappears after first input.
It is the sysmbol showing where the next character you type in will appear.
I am sorry that you had to wait that long for my email, but I'm absolutely
busy.

Assigning to saari, I think this is a dup of one or more bugs you already have.
